Germany has a new captain
The goalkeeper of Bayern (Munich), Manuel Neuer expected was appointed as captain of the national team of Germany after the withdrawal of Bastian Schweinsteiger. The experienced midfielder took his "goodbye" to Bundesteam in a friendly match against Finland (2:0) in Mönchengladbach. The decision was taken solely by the head coach of the team Joachim Loew. According to media, other options were Jérôme Boateng, Toni Kroos and Sami Khedira. Just a month ago, in a poll on Sport1.de, most fans voted for Boateng and Neuer was the second choice. The debut of goalkeeper as a captain will be in the upcoming World Cup qualifier against Norway in Oslo on Sunday. Neuer is the second goalkeeper-captain of Germany after Oliver Kahn.
